Because I am away I have decided to post some old or CLASSIC episodes of the podcast to keep you all interested, hopefully….
This podcast first went live 29th November 2010 and has all the classic features. I won’t spoil the surprises but I will post the original notes below. Please remember that this is over two years old and some of the information, websites etc, do not exist and/or may have changed. ENJOY
A bumper episode this week full of wonderful stuff.
My opening track was from the magnificent Schnauser followed by the small but perfectly formed Clara Barker. An exclusive little track from Indigo Earth (I think), then that nice Mr Paul Lane from Unplug the Jukebox came in and told us about Under the Laurels and Johnny 5th Wheel and the Cowards. Veronica from Boobie Wednesday told us about her site and if you click here you can see this weeks “pair of the week” and they belong to Veronica herself.
I then played the great Fez mentioning that if you love them or have nothing better to do then pop over to https://www.myspace.com/becksmusic and vote for them. I then played beautiful tracks fro The LCD and Tom Caulfield finishing off with a live instrumental from me.
A heady mixture of music and chat this week.
I have a chat to Marvin B Naylor in the car about his latest monster single I Am A Summer Night and then play it. Paul Lane from Unplug the Juke Box has a chat about Jonny Cola and the A Grades and I finish off with a live song I played at Seend acoustic club which is just left of the middle on nowhere…
Kid Russell ~ Broke DJ, Bobby Good ~ Just Words, Thom Cross ~ Standing on the Edge, The Penny Red ~ Thelma, Son of Eagle ~ Bones, Jon Gomm ~ Love Proof, TWO tunes from No Snow NO Alps ~ Elixzabeth I and Cherry Tree and a demo from me.
Paul from Unplug The Jukebox came in and we caught up on a few things including a track by From the Storm.
Job is a good un!
So here we are, episode 100! Recorded live at The Cellar Southampton and what an afternoon Paul (Unplug the Juke Box) and I had!
Sadly no live video stream ( I broke the internet!) but some great live performances from Anja McCloskey, Marvin B Naylor, The Lost Boys, Mike Vaughan and Gideon Towers from Gideon’s Demise. I filled in with some amazing tracks from Tim Farrell and Matt Stevens ( the remixed one by Pseudo Ambient) . I chatted with Guy Sivour from Sand River, David Simnell, and Mark Lawrence from Broken Links. It would have been mean not to play one of their tracks so I did that too!
Thanks to everyone that came along and especially to Mark & Kev from The Cellar for letting me shout in their bar for a few hours!
I’m flying solo this week but managed to get through the hour!
Paul Lane from Unplug the Jukebox came along and waxed, waxed lyrical he did!
In geeks corner I explained why last weeks podcast was late.
There’s a nice little poll to play on, expect more in the future!
It appears that the Markers Mark did the trick this week as I whizzed through the podcast at record speed!
I started off with and old favourite Diana by The Wilton Project, then a most beautiful tune by April Maybe May called Sugar & Mess and then Alibi by Planes Over Paris. Then came my interview with the delightful Anja McClosky who told me all about her imminent tour of America next month. If you’re about try and catch her to say hi.
I also played Anja’s amazing tunes Stephanie IV. Pam Shaffer’s track Henry followed this then a word or two from that nice Paul Lane from Unplug the Jukebox. Steve Lowis’s Rescue and newly named Alligator Indian and their top track Prospect Park.
I finished off with a track I recorded on my honeymoon in 2006, lets just call it Slide.
I hope you enjoyed the podcast, click on something eh?
