Is This Thing On Podcast 77 UTJ Special part 1

Yes it’s another Unplug the Jukebox Special! This week Paul Lane joins me from Unplug the Jukebox for a podcast so packed we had to make it in two parts!

Helped largely by cans of wonderful Polish Tyskie beer we waxed lyrical, ranted,  raved and generally spouted.

In this part we played full unadulterated tracks and by The Rising, Mash Attack, Curxes, Butterflies on Strings, The Douglas Firs, Bourdeauxxx and the mighty Marvin B Naylor as well as mentioning Marvin’s brilliant Diary of A Busker blog.

Part 2 is well…drunker….

Because I had a gig to play tonight, this weeks episode is a little late.

All the usual stuff including a Skype conversation with Paul Lane from unplug the jukebox plus some great music from Dead Social Club Syrian Kisses, Ask Alfie and Karaoke, a live Liz Longley track – Go On,  an exclusive track from The Fierce and the Dead – 10×10, a Japanese masterpiece from Lite with Image gam, Sounds under Radio with Effigy and good egg Paul Liddel with Dial tone. I played another track from my vinyl Project but you’ll have to listen to find out which one!

In this weeks podcast Paul and I interview The Rising who also play a cracking acoustic track!  I also play Faux Disco Club ~ Recovery, Bang Bangs ~ In Arms, PostCode ~ Drop Dead, Planes Over Paris ~ Signs, an exclusive track from The Lost Boys ~ Crazy Weekend, Paul eventually sent me a Dan Sheers & The Velveteen Orkestra ~ City of Dreadful Night, Camp Out ~ Made My Self Sick, Marvin B Naylor ~ Boy Became a Man and a frankly dodgy track by me. It seemed like a good idea at the time!!! Some nice new jingles by The Posh Bird…very nice!

It appears that the Markers Mark did the trick this week as I whizzed through the podcast at record speed!

I started off with and old favourite Diana by The Wilton Project, then a most beautiful tune by April Maybe May called Sugar & Mess and then Alibi by Planes Over Paris. Then came my interview with the delightful Anja McClosky who told me all about her imminent tour of America next month. If you’re about try and catch her to say hi.

I also played Anja’s amazing tunes Stephanie IV. Pam Shaffer’s track Henry followed this then a word or two from that nice Paul Lane from Unplug the Jukebox. Steve Lowis’s Rescue and newly named Alligator Indian and their top track Prospect Park.

I finished off with a track I recorded on my honeymoon in 2006, lets just call it Slide.

I hope you enjoyed the podcast, click on something eh?

Is This Thing On Podcast 56 Unplug the Jukebox Special

Paul Lane and I decided to do the first of what I hope with be a regular 6 weekly special of tracks reviewed by Paul on his Unplug The Juke box feature. We had a great time with not only some great tracks but also we were lucky enough to be joined by Dan from The Lost Boys who performed a track so new that the rest of his band had yet to hear it. Anja McClosky Turn - Turn - Turn - EP - Anja Mc Closkey also graced us with her presence, her piano accordion, her amazing voice and  by Andy on guitar and a fantastic fiddle player whose name escapes me but they both also join her playing as they do for Haunted StereoHaunted Stereo They made a fantastic sound!

Along with some sensible chat from Paul (I took a bit of a back seat in this one) we played some of his favourite tracks from the last few months. Tracks by These Fine Galleons, The Manic Shine The Manic Shine,  The Chase Ever, Never Or Now? - EP - The Chase,  Mutant Vinyl and I played one of Paul’s favourites but not his first choice as my throat is far to rough (I have a bit of a sore throat) to belt out That Woman. To find out what I sang you’ll have to listen.

Paul Lane from Unplug The Jukebox came in and raved about The Chase

The fragrant Veronica from Booby Wednesday encouraged us to examine our boobs I hope we all will!
