In this weeks podcast Paul and I interview The Rising who also play a cracking acoustic track!  I also play Faux Disco Club ~ Recovery, Bang Bangs ~ In Arms, PostCode ~ Drop Dead, Planes Over Paris ~ Signs, an exclusive track from The Lost Boys ~ Crazy Weekend, Paul eventually sent me a Dan Sheers & The Velveteen Orkestra ~ City of Dreadful Night, Camp Out ~ Made My Self Sick, Marvin B Naylor ~ Boy Became a Man and a frankly dodgy track by me. It appears that the Markers Mark did the trick this week as I whizzed through the podcast at record speed!

I started off with and old favourite Diana by The Wilton Project, then a most beautiful tune by April Maybe May called Sugar & Mess and then Alibi by Planes Over Paris. Then came my interview with the delightful Anja McClosky who told me all about her imminent tour of America next month. If you’re about try and catch her to say hi.

I also played Anja’s amazing tunes Stephanie IV. Pam Shaffer’s track Henry followed this then a word or two from that nice Paul Lane from Unplug the Jukebox. Steve Lowis’s Rescue and newly named Alligator Indian and their top track Prospect Park.

I finished off with a track I recorded on my honeymoon in 2006, lets just call it Slide.

I hope you enjoyed the podcast, click on something eh?

Is This Thing On Podcast 62 Xmas Special Part Two

Part two does start, eventually after about 12 seconds, sorry about that but there were technical problems with this one.

Apoc told us the tale of a Canadian Xmas followed by the mighty Matt Stevens with his Xmas address. A great track Fearless by ITTO fave Paul Liddell then Repeat by Tommy Eye (ft Matt Diaper), Odin the Great by Defy 4Unravelling from Liz Longley, a tune from me which you can download for a £1 by clicking hereSarah Griffin bought us close to the end with her brilliant tune poet and the whole chaotic festive jumble was bought to an end by The Lost Boys and their cracking tune I don’t want to be a Christmas Single.

That’s it for this year, the next podcast will hopefully go live in a couple of weeks so keep checking all the usual places.

The new website is close to being completed. You can now catch up with podcast 15 to the present day now with each episode having it’s own little player. Have a look around as it will be the new permanent home very soon.

Hope you have a great time over the holiday and I’ll be back in the new year.

BYE!

Is This Thing On Podcast 56 Unplug the Jukebox Special

Paul Lane and I decided to do the first of what I hope with be a regular 6 weekly special of tracks reviewed by Paul on his Unplug The Juke box feature. We had a great time with not only some great tracks but also we were lucky enough to be joined by Dan from The Lost Boys who performed a track so new that the rest of his band had yet to hear it. Anja McClosky Turn - Turn - Turn - EP - Anja Mc Closkey also graced us with her presence, her piano accordion, her amazing voice and  by Andy on guitar and a fantastic fiddle player whose name escapes me but they both also join her playing as they do for Haunted StereoHaunted Stereo They made a fantastic sound!

Along with some sensible chat from Paul (I took a bit of a back seat in this one) we played some of his favourite tracks from the last few months. Tracks by These Fine Galleons, The Manic Shine The Manic Shine,  The Chase Ever, Never Or Now? - EP - The Chase,  Mutant Vinyl and I played one of Paul’s favourites but not his first choice as my throat is far to rough (I have a bit of a sore throat) to belt out That Woman. To find out what I sang you’ll have to listen.

A bumper episode this week full of wonderful stuff.

My opening track was from the magnificent Schnauser Schnauser followed by the small but perfectly formed Clara Barker.  An exclusive little track from Indigo Earth (I think), then that nice Mr Paul Lane from Unplug the Jukebox came in and told us about Under the Laurels and Johnny 5th Wheel and the Cowards.  Veronica from Boobie Wednesday told us about her site and if you click here you can see this weeks “pair of the week” and they belong to Veronica herself.

Next came a great track from Japanese indie band Suinseinoboaz with many thanks to Jpoplover for that. The sadly one off “Song Story” featured the the mighty Matt Stevens .

I then played the great Fez mentioning that if you love them or have nothing better to do then pop over to https://www.myspace.com/becksmusic and vote for them. I then played beautiful tracks fro The LCD and Tom Caulfield finishing off with a live instrumental from me.
